Early voting is running well ahead of the pace set before the twenty twenty-two midterms, according to an Associated Press analysis. Nearly ten million more Americans had cast ballots five days before Election Day than at the same point four years ago, with voting up about thirty percent in competitive Senate states including Iowa and Kansas. President Donald Trump rallied in Florida on Friday, while former President Bill Clinton appeared in Mississippi for Democrats. Both parties are trying to turn turnout into control of Congress, with affordability and views of Trump among the campaign's major issues.
A federal judge in Washington said she will appoint a special master to examine whether Trump administration officials and Justice Department lawyers made misrepresentations during a dispute over planned work at East Potomac Golf Links. The inquiry is not a finding that anyone acted unethically. The hearing followed President Donald Trump's posts describing the project and court questioning of officials who had not confirmed the plans. The Justice Department later said the National Park Service would submit a golf-course rendering for review on October thirtieth. A separate court case is challenging another administration construction proposal near the National Mall.
A busy October thirtieth release slate gives U.S. moviegoers several very different choices for the weekend. Netflix is releasing The Mosquito Bowl, Peter Berg's adaptation of Buzz Bissinger's book about four college football players who enlist in the Marines after Pearl Harbor. Liam Neeson stars in the car-chase thriller The Mongoose, while National Geographic's Everest: The Other Side follows filmmakers Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin as they pursue a climb and ski descent of Everest's North Face. The releases arrive just before the November holiday-film lineup begins.
